The transition to digital came with many facilities, and the convenience of post-it notes was integrated on the computer.

If you've ever used Sticky Notes before, you'll feel right at home here. The program functions much like Windows' built-in solution, but with a few design flourishes and quality-of-life changes that make it a more palatable option for the more advanced user.

The process of note-taking is rather similar, though this solution offers some functionalities that make it a quite competent word processor, too. You can highlight text, use different fonts and sizes, and organize paragraphs per your needs. Images and documents can be added to your notes, and you may also attach a note to a program's window, in an effort to remind you of something related to said window.

The Stack functionality works well to group your writings together, so no more scrambling for that one note. You can categorize and tag your notes and also lock their contents through this feature. You can also enable Ghost mode this way, which serves to make the notes non-interactive.

Living up to the post-it notes' ability to remind one of their duties, the program also offers an alarm function to act as a reminder. What's more, the Sleep feature can hide certain notes from sight, presenting them to you only after a certain period of time.

If you wish to back up and transfer your notes, you can do so over a TCP/IP network connection, or via an SMTP/MAPI mail server.

Portable Stickies offers a lot more functionality than you would expect of a note-taking app, all while remaining completely free-to-use — and that's quite a praiseworthy feat.
